First Assembly of God

Short Term Missions Trips!

We believe in reaching out to fulfill the Great Commission.  Nearly one third of our congregation has been outside of the United States on a missions trip of one form or another.  Corporately we have had groups go as far as Romania and Ecuador.  Individuals have been to places as far away as Africa, and the Philippines.

Trevin Hogle will soon be going on a missions trip with AIM to Brussels Belgium.  He is looking for you support in prayer, and financially.  See Trevin's message below, and  Check back for praise reports from the harvest field.

Dear Friends and Family

Hello, my name is Trevin Hogle.  I am involved in the youth ministries at First Assembly of God in Alexandria, KY.  From last year's experience to El Salvador, my life will never be the same.  It's like once you do it you don't want to stop!  This is how I feel about Missions, and I have another opportunity to serve this year in Brussels, Belgium, through Ambassadors in Mission.

The Missions group will leave on April 3rd 2009 and return on April 10th.  While in Brussels Belgium we will have the opportunity to partner with Kentucky missionaries Steve and Deanne Turley.  I will have the chance to participate in a 4 day Kids Crusade, an international youth service, ministry on the campus. a service with Students for Christ, the local Chi Alpha group, maintenance, clean up, and light repair at the European Ministry Center, street ministry at the Grand Place, a service at the Continental Theological Seminary.

My heart is for Missions.  Jesus tells us in the Bible that He wants us to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all Nations!  This means he wants us to go into all the World and tell them how Jesus loves us and died for our sins.  He wants every soul to be saved and for every soul to accept Christ into their heart so that they may go to Heaven.  My passion is to preach to the kids and teens in Belgium so that they can receive Christ into their heart so that we may rejoice in heaven.  Salvation is the number one thing we all need in our life and there are many who don't know anything about it.  They hurt and stress every day!  They wonder why they are sick and weary.  Tehy wonder why everything goes bad and wrong.  They need Jesus Christ in their heart.  I want each and every person to come to know Christ and they are not going to do that without the service of me and the others on the team, unless we make the effort.  I want to make the effort and to go serve Jesus as he wants me to!

How can this be possible?  Through your support and prayers!  The initial cost of the trip is $875 plus airfare (approximately $900).  A total cost of around $1900.  I still have a little amount of money left from last years donations and I am continuing to save for this trip myself, but your prayer and support will help to reach my goal!  The initial cost of this trip will cover ground transportation, lodging, all meals, insurance, ministry shirts, and much more.  I know that this trip is just around the corner and I only have three months to raise the money, but I believe God's promise that "all things are possible with God".  I have peace and provision of the support that I need to go on this trip.  As I know that God will provide the means, your prayers are vital and greatly appreciated.  Teh total cost of the trip is due by march 16th 2009.  Please pray about this chance to support me.

If you would like to support me on this trip you can either send your donation to me or straight to the KY youth district office.  If you would like a form for tax purposes send it to the KY district office with "Trevin Hogle" in the memo box and the check made out to Kentucky AIM.  If you would like to send it to me, Checks can be made out to Trevin Hogle.

My address is:

KY District Office Address is:

Sincerely;

Trevin Hogle.

I Get to Serve Christ as a Missionary

By Andy Raatz

I feel as if I've won the lottery.

I get to serve Christ in Moldova.

As I drove back from a small village this week, swerving around potholes and squinting through the fog, my mind fixated on how fortunate I am to serve in this country.  I detest the concept that I am sacrificing, but smile at the thought of being blessed.

Earlier that day, I chatted with an old married couple of 89 and 86 years of age.  My new friend fought in World War II, but on a different front.  I saw their tiny home, heard their stories and talked to them about Christ.

As we handed bags of groceries to the neediest in the village of Baraboi, I joked with people who had spent their entire life in that village.  I prayed with an old woman who still doesn't know Christ, but is concerned for her sick daughter.

MISSIVE — NOVEMBER 2009

I am in debt to my good friends and colleagues John and Glenda Harris for having sent me the book “The Waiting Father: Sermons on the Parables of Jesus” by Helmut Thielicke. I want to share a quote with you today, because it’s so pertinent to our spiritual well-being.  Thielicke says,

“The man who lets his day grow recklessly and blindly, that is, the man who does not begin his day by talking with God before he goes on to the thousands of words, written and oral, which he must speak to men, that man grows rotten, both physically and nervously.   And what has been called “executive’s disease,” the symptoms of which are ulcers and heart attacks, is often only a symptom of these deeper disorders in the soil of our life.”

How often has this happened in our own lives? In order to expedite the responsibilities of the day, we sometimes leave home without the most important aspect of our life, which is, of course, consulting with God about all those responsibilities and duties we have to perform in the course of the day. It is generally counterproductive, because we end up spending more time correcting errors we have made when we proceed without divine orders.
